Community Service

While a builders association may not traditionally be thought of as a support group, the AAHBA has been involved in many worthwhile projects.  Throughout the years some of the service projects that AAHBA has helped support are: a scholarship fund at Athens Tech, Special Olympics, Project Reach, the Veterans Memorial Plaza, the Boys & Girls Club, the Bridgeway Home for Boys, the Salvation Army, the YMCA, the Eagle Boys Ranch, Extra Special People, Project Safe, the Athens Area Homeless Shelter, the Athens Clinic for the Homeless, the Fire Safety House, the Athens Clarke County CASA, the Athens Area Child Abuse Prevention Council, Inc. In 1990, AAHBA donated material and built a home that was given to the Athens Area Habitat for Humanity.  During 1995, AAHBA helped renovate and remodel the Sexual Assault Center of Northeast Georgia located in Athens.

In addition to the Association’s involvement with the communities listed above, the AAHBA also volunteers on the second Tuesday of every month to provide and serve a meal at the Athens Area Homeless Shelter.  A volunteer brings an entire meal and serves it to the residents and is able to dine and talk with them.  Money is also raised during the November monthly meeting to donate to the Homeless Shelter to provide them with additional support. For more information on how to become more involved, please contact the AAHBA at info@aahba.com.
